Our Stay and Play

We had a fantastic woodland themed stay and play! Thank you for coming and making some wonderful things to take home. We all had a brilliant time and can't wait for the next one.

Week Beginning 7/11/16

This week we had our memorable experience! We went on a nature walk around the school grounds in the hope that we would find lots of different woodland and autumn things! We all set off with our checklists of things to look out for and we also spotted a few extra things of our own. We had a fantastic time walking around the school looking for different things and animals. Remember to be on the look out for more wildlife when you are at home!

We also made a range of wonderful woodland crafts and artwork. We created leaf people, hedgehogs, leaf rubbings and leaf printing which all of the children really enjoyed.

In maths we were also able to use the natural resources that we had found to create a smallest to largest scale using leaves - they look really effective!

Week Beginning 31/10/16

This week at school is has been Bonfire Night! we have been looking at Bonfire Night safety and creating posters telling people how to keep safe during this time of year! Not only have we been creating posters but we have also been creating some fantastic artwork! The glitter arrived in Reception Class as we made some beautiful firework pictures that really sparkled. We also went outside to create some splatter fireworks on black paper which the children loved. We also created some fabulous dance routines in PE dancing around to Katy Perry's firework and thinking how we could use our bodies to represent fireworks.

Have a fantastic Bonfire weekend and stay safe.

After looking at the Lion and the Mouse story last week, we were thrilled to have received a letter from them! The letter thanked the class for being so helpful and kind to each other. We thought that if the Lion and the Mouse could say thank you to us for being helpful, then we could send thank you letters to other people! We had lots of great ideas of what we could say thank you for including; thank you for picking us up, looking after us, cooking us dinner and loving us.  We worked really hard on writing thank you letter and making thank you gifts for the special people in our lives!

We also had a lot of fun in maths as some of our class minibeasts had lost their legs and we had to find the right number of pegs to give them new ones! Luckily, all of the minibeasts managed to get the right amount of new legs! We also made towers using different numbers of bricks. Fantastic number recognition Reception!
